Firefighters said an 18-year-old started up a lawnmower in the garage and there was a backfire that set the garage ablaze. They said fuel that spilled while the lawnmower was being filled caught fire.

The fire quickly spread to the house, and firefighters said flames were consuming the home when they arrived.

The teen escaped uninjured. Firefighters said five people were in the home at the time, but none were hurt.
