Police said two men later identified as La'Quanza Gee, 28, of Live Oak, and Leonard Goodman, 32, of Jacksonville, ran to the neighboring complex, Greentree Apartments, where they carjacked a person at gunpoint and sped away.

An officer took off after Gee and Goodman, following them through Lake City at about 40 mph until they reached the city limits, when Columbia County deputies joined the pursuit.

When the car turned off Old Country Club Road onto S.E. Lanvale Street, the deputies managed to run Gee and Goodman off the road and into a fence.

They were not injured in the crash and taken into custody.

Police said they discovered a bag of cocaine with an estimated value of $20,000 in the car.

Police said the Florida Department of Law Enforcement was assisting in the investigation and charges against Gee and Goodman are pending.
