Prosecutors said that in August 2011, Torres went to the victims' home and an argument began. They said Torres shot at Thomas Douglas and his girlfriend, Renee Briggs.

Briggs was shot in the abdomen. Torres missed Douglas.

Torres faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years, which means he is not eligible for early release during that time.
