Council president wants to name Suns' field for late owner

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – City Council President Bill Bishop wants to introduce legislation that would honor the late Peter Bragan Sr.

The bill would name the Jacksonville Suns' field at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville in honor of its longtime owner, who died last month from heart failure. He was 89.

The bill will be introduced Tuesday.

In 1984, Bragan purchased the Suns franchise for $330,000. Today, it's known as one of the country's most successful baseball teams, all credited to his passion for baseball.
