Lake City bike shop owner held up at knifepoint

Robber stole cash from owner, 78

LAKE CITY, Fla. – The owner of Keaton's Bike Shop was robbed at knifepoint Friday afternoon, Lake City Police said.

At around 4:30, a black man in his early 20's went into the bike store at 327 N. Marion Ave. and asked store owner Harry Bertram, 78, for some patches for his bike tires. The man then took out a knife and held it to the back of Bertram's head, demanding cash from the register.

Police said the man threatened to kill Bertram, grabbed a bunch of cash and ordered Bertram to the ground. He left the store and fled on his bicycle toward NE Franklin Street on NE Hernando Avenue.

The suspect was between 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 9 inches tall and wore all black clothing with a khaki-colored hat.
