Sexual predator sentenced to confinement

Randall Lamp

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A sexual predator who molested boys more than two decades ago will be locked up indefinitely at the Florida Civil Commitment Center in Arcadia.

Randall Lamp, 45, pleaded guilty to five counts of lewd, lascivious and indecent act in 1991. The victims were boys between the ages of 10 and 13.

Lamp sexually abused the boys numerous times. He was sentenced to five years in prison and three years of probation for the crimes.

In February 1996, Lamp violated his probation after he failed to complete psycho-sexual treatment. In September 1996, he violated his probation again when he had unsupervised contact with children.

Experts evaluated Lamp and found he needs to be in a long-term care facility because he suffers from a personality disorder. The experts noted the disorder makes Lamp likely to engage in acts of sexual violence.

This week, a jury found Lamp is a sexually violent predator and should be housed at the commitment center.
