ORANGE PARK, Fla. – A Jacksonville man is accused of strangling his former roommate Wednesday night in an Orange Park motel and stealing the victim's wallet, cell phone and van.

Andrew Stiekman, 49, was found dead in the Rodeway Inn on U.S. Highway 17.  The Orange Park Police Department, working in conjunction with the Clay County Sheriff's Office and the Jacksonville Medical Examiner's Office, determined that John Buskager killed Stiekman.

Buskager, 22, was arrested early Friday morning on charges of murder, robbery and grand theft and booked into the Clay County Jail.

According to the arrest report, Buskager used to live with Stiekman in Jacksonville. Deputies said the motel room was straightened up before the killer left.

The arrest report redacts the information Buskager gave them when he was questioned by detectives, but says, "Given the numerous lies during the interview... his indebtedness, the victim's pension for carrying cash, the photos and moneygram, it appears the defendant met with the victim with the intent of robbing him.  During the course of this robbery, a struggle ensued and the victim was killed."
