Detective David Scholfman, of the Bradford County Sheriff's Office, was working a DUI Enforcement Detail when he noticed a green vehicle and recalled a "be on the lookout" of a similar vehicle that was connected to a robbery of a Capital City Bank in Gainesville on Tuesday.

The same man was suspected in another robbery at the Community State Bank in Lake Butler on Dec. 7.

Scholfman said he followed the vehicle just before 8 p.m. and noticed a broken tail light. He ran the license plate number and received confirmation the vehicle was connected with a warrant issued by the Union County Sheriff's Office for the robbery in Lake Butler.

Scholfman said he continued following the vehicle until other Bradford County deputies arrived to assist. They stopped the car driven by McDonald, of Lake Butler. McDonald was arrested on the robbery warrant and also on a violation of probation for burglary of a structure.

McDonald was being held in the Union County jail with bail set at $300,000.

Police said they recovered evidence linking McDonald to both robberies, including some of the cash taken during the crimes.
