Man arrested in apartment stabbing death

32-year-old claims self-defense in killing

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police have arrested a man in the stabbing and beating death of a 22-year-old man early Monday morning in San Jose.

Jacksonville police said Maurice Johnson, 32, killed Jessie Bracelett in the parking lot of the Williamsburg Apartments at 3770 Toledo Road about 12:30 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found Bracelett's body in the parking lot.

Witnesses pointed out Johnson to police, investigators said. He was treated for his injuries at a hospital and then questioned, police said.

Johnson is claiming self-defense, but was booked on a murder charge, according to a police report.
