The car was removed from the scene, but JEA responded because the pole was leaning and power was cut to the more than 220 customers in the area while crews could make repairs.

JEA estimated all power would be resolved by 8:15 a.m.

Westbound lanes of University Boulevard were reopened around 5:45 a.m.  Eastbound lanes reopened at 8 a.m.

According to the FHP report, the car was speeding east on University near Interstate 95 when it left the road and struck the poll. Troopers said charges are pending.
