ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A World Gym employee in St. Augustine was arrested Friday on a charge of video voyeurism.
Jerry Hackney, 36, was arrested after a 25-year-old woman on Wednesday reported a suspicious incident that occurred at the gym on U.S. 1 South.
The victim discovered an employee of the gym had placed his cellphone in a closet to record people getting into and out of a tanning booth, deputies said.
Detectives said they seized Hackney's phone and other evidence to determine if there are any additional victims who were unaware of his actions.
Deputies said additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
According to a spokesman, Hackney used to be a reserve officer of the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
