1 dead, 2 in custody in East Arlington

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One man is dead and two people are in custody after a fight Tuesday afternoon in East Arlington.

Jacksonville police were called to a home in the 100 block of South Nadia Michelle Court, near Girvin Road and Atlantic Boulevard, about 1:30 p.m.

Police said there was some type of fight, and then a man in a truck drove up to the home and was shot and killed by the man who lived there.

"The early determination is that the person that lived in the residence and the deceased individual probably knew each other somehow, and that there was some type of verbal altercation ensued, and then the shots were fired," said Sgt. Shawn Coarsey, of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

It's unclear what the argument was about.

Police said a man and a woman in their 20s are in custody. They said both live in the house. The victim was also in his 20s.

Investigators did not immediately release their identities.

Police said a rifle was used in the killing.
