Police: Man, meth lab components found in storage unit

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Investigators called to Pan AM Mini Storage in Mayport on Tuesday morning said they found a man sleeping inside one of the units, along with components of a methamphetamine lab.

Atlantic Beach police said they received a call from company management at the storage unit in the 2300 block of Mayport Road just after 8 a.m.

Police said while removing Lawrence Nye (pictured right) from the property, they found meth lab materials.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office bomb squad and Jacksonville Fire-Rescue hazmat team were called to dismantle the meth lab.

No one was injured in the incident.

Nye had an active arrest warrant for violation of probation, and he was also charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, a first-degree felony, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
