Shipyard to build more ships for offshore drilling company

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A local shipyard will be building even more ships for an offshore drilling company, helping the shipbuilding operations to grow.

Earlier this month, BAE held a ceremony to mark the start of the work on the first of two ships to be built locally for Jackson Offshore.

Now, BAE will build two additional ships as well.

Right now, about 400 people work for BAE in Jacksonville, and they plan to hire another 120 workers by the middle of this year because of this contract.
