JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 27-year-old Jacksonville man seriously hurt in a fatal crash last month on Beach Boulevard has died.
Gary Simmons Jr. died Monday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

His girlfriend, 24-year-old Crystal Sanford, was killed in the head-on crash.
Troopers said Simmons was driving and Sanford (pictured, right) was a passenger in a Chevrolet Impala that was struck at 3:44 a.m. by a pickup truck that crossed into the oncoming travel lane on Beach Boulevard, just east of Schumacher Avenue.
Both were taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, where Sanford died that night.
The driver of the pickup, Joseph Farley, 34, was also taken to Shands with serious injuries. According to the FHP report, blood-alcohol testing was done and charges are pending.
