The bomb squad was called to the Jacksonville Transportation Authority station in the 200 block of West Union Street at about 11:30 a.m. when an officer working at the station saw the large suitcase underneath a column.

Police reviewed surveillance video and said a man placed the suitcase there at about 8:30 a.m. then left.

The station was evacuated and closed.

State and Union streets were blocked off on each side of the bus stop for about two hours.
