Reginold Goodmon died after 18-wheeler was engulfed in flames

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 61-year-old driver died Tuesday night in a crash that caused the cab of his tractor-trailer to catch fire.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Reginold Goodmon, of Kissimmee, was driving south on Interstate 295 about 8:15 p.m. when a car that entered from the Dunn Avenue interchange made an improper lane change and collided with the big rig.

The car, driven by Talia Williams, 33, began to rotate, crossed two lanes of traffic and the emergency lane before striking a concrete barrier wall twice before coming to a stop.

Goodmon's 18-wheeler continued south while he tried to stop, but it crossed the grass median, continued across all northbound travel lanes and the northbound exit ramp before colliding with a line of trees, where the cab burst into flames.

Goodmon was taken to Shands Jacksonville Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead.  Williams suffered minor injuries.

Charges are pending further investigation, according to the FHP report.
