Firefighters battle fire at abandoned apartment complex

State Fire Marshal says blaze ruled arson


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Firefighters battled a fire Thursday evening at an abandoned apartment complex at Merrill Road and Cesery Boulevard.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue said the fire broke out just after 10:30 p.m. at the complex located at 5905 Merrill Road. Officials said no one was in the building at the time of the fire.

No firefighters were hurt putting the fire out, according to JFRD.

The State Fire Marshal's Office said it's investigating the fire as arson.
