JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Officers investigating an animal complaint in Riverside on Friday smelled marijuana coming from a nearby home. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office report, when they looked further, officers found a marijuana grow operation underneath a home surrounded by surveillance cameras.
Officers say when they looked inside and saw 44-year-old Elona Borowy running the "grow room," but her brother, 50-year-old Eugene Stoy, came to the window, declined to let officers inside and shut the blinds.

About 45 minutes later, investigators say Borowy came outside the home and gave them permission to search the home. Officers say they found 49 live plants and several pounds of marijuana.
Police say when they told Borowy what they found, she took them to a hole that was cut out of the floor in order to hide the evidence from law enforcement.
Investigators say Borowy admitted growing the marijuana and that her brother, Stoy, had nothing to do with it. Stoy denied growing marijuana and knowing his sister was growing it, but admitted to smoking it.
Both Stoy and Borowy were arrested.
Stoy is charged with cultivating marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a school. Bowory was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
After searching Bowory at the jail, officers said they found a small baggie with six suboxone bills and one benadryl capsule inside her bra. Investigators say she told officers the pills were fer her addiction, and admitted she knew the pills were in her bra.
Borowy was also charged with introducing or smuggling contraband into a detention facility.
