1 dead, 3 injured in Northside crash

Police investigating cause of overnight crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 26-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Northside late Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police were called to the crash in the 12500 block of Dunn Creek Road in which Benjamin Allgary, a passenger in the vehicle, died.

Police said an Acura with four people in it was heading south on Dunn Creek at a high speed and struck a bump as it passed through the intersection at New Berlin Road. Investigators said the car left the east side of the roadway and traveled across a shallow ditch, through three fences, two yards, a driveway, and into a large pine tree.

Allgary died at the scene. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver and two other passengers were taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police closed the road near New Berlin Road to investigate the accident, but it reopened a couple hours later.

Police are still investigating what caused the crash.
