Officers arrived and quickly located the two teens, ages 14 and 15, who had been seen by an anonymous witness who saw them taking something out of a neighbor's yard.

While responding officers spoke with the teens, another officer made contact with the owner of the home where they were seen removing something from the backyard. The owner noticed his puppy was missing.

Police said after interviewing the teens, they admitted having stolen the dog from the yard and led officers to a secluded wooded location nearby where the puppy had been hidden.

The teens were arrested on grand theft charges and transported to the Columbia County jail.

The puppy was safely recovered and returned by officers to its owner.
