Deputies: Man dead in Yulee house fire, explosion

Neighbors say man was well known in community

YULEE, Fla. – The Nassau County Sheriff's Office says a man is dead in Yulee after a house fire and explosion Sunday morning.

Sheriff Bill Leper says they got the call at 1:19 a.m. Sunday from neighbors about a fire at 85185 Tinya Road.

Neighbors told deputies they heard an explosion, but deputies are not sure yet if the fire or explosion happened first.

Nassau County Fire Rescue said, while searching the debris, firefighters found 64-year-old Robert Carden dead inside. His body was taken to the medical examiner's office.

Neighbors in the area tell Channel 4 Carden was an active member of the local Moose lodge.

Investigators said no one else was home at the time.
