Coast Guard, FWC suspends search for 2 men near Horseshoe Beach
Coast Guard says Tom Morrison of Jacksonville, Glenn Garris remain missing
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Coast Guard and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission say they have suspended their search for two men after their boat capsized on Saturday.
Authorities said they ended their search at 2 p.m. Sunday for the men after their 21-foot boat capsized 13 miles west of Horseshoe Beach.
According to the Coast Guard, 65-year-old Tom Morrison, of Jacksonville, and 70-year-old Glenn Garris remain missing.
Crews searched for 13 hours and covered 2,537 square miles before it was confirmed by FWC, 78-year-old Frank Dipaula of Keystone Heights and 67-year-old Tom Grant that Morrison and Harris succumbed to hypothermia and disappeared below the surface Saturday.
Dipaula and Grant survived the capsizing, the Coast Guard said.
An aircraft crew, helicopter crew, deputies and other officials helped search for the men.
