Police ID driver accused of causing San Jose crash

Woman, child hospitalized after May 30 crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A month after a driver ran a red light on San Jose Boulevard, sending a woman and her child to the hospital, police identified the other driver as Brandon Sleiman.

Kimberly Peeples was so critically injured in the May 30 crash on San Jose at Pall Mall Drive that traffic homicide detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office investigated the incident. Her condition improved and she has been released from the hospital. Peeples' 3-year-old daughter, who was strapped in a safety seat, was not seriously injured.

Police at the time said the driver of the pickup truck that struck Peeple's car went through a red light at the intersection and that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

The Sheriff's Office has not said if or when Sleiman would be charged.
