Mom ODs; dad carrying drugs; baby in back seat
EAST PALATKA, Fla. – A Putnam County deputy responding to a medical emergency Saturday came upon a man trying to revive his girlfriend after an apparent drug overdose in their car while the couple's 2-month-old child was in the back seat.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Deputy David Blount responded to 336 South Highway 17 at 11:32 a.m. and saw Johnathan Hunt in the front seat of a 2012 Nissan Altima attempting to give CPR to Megan Crabtree. The deputy found a needle and a silver spoon lying on the front seat of the vehicle and believe Crabtree shot up an unknown amount of Dilaudid, which rendered her unconscious.
In addition, Deputy Blount discovered a white pill, later identified as Dilaudid, in Hunt's shorts pocket.
After Crabtree was revived at the Putnam Community Medical Center, she was arrested and charged with child endangerment. Crabtree, 19, was booked into the Putnam County Jail and given a bond of $1,004.
Hunt, 20, who was on felony probation for grand theft, was arrested and charged with violation of probation, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and child endangerment. He was booked and ordered held without bond.
The baby was unharmed and released to the custody of a relative. The Department of Children and Families was notified of the incident.
