Bolles officials said the parting was a mutual and amicable decision by Johnson and the Board of Trustees.

They plan to name an interim head of school within the next few weeks.

Bolles will then launch a formal search for a permanent head of school in September.

Johnson said he's proud of what the school accomplished over the last year and wishes it continued success.

Johnson served as Headmaster at Alexander Dawson School in Colorado from 2006 until he joined Bolles in July 2012. He said he plans to pursue other opportunities in education.
