Missing 8-foot boa constrictor found, OK

The missing snake is named "Alice."

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – An 8-foot Colombian red-tail boa constrictor that disappeared in May from a home in the 700 block of 5th Avenue North in Jacksonville Beach is now home.

Rick Watts, the snake named Alice's owner, reported the disappearance to police, telling officers the snake had been raised as a pet since birth. It is fed small mice, rats and rabbits.

The snake was fed shortly before it disappeared, and Watts believed it would stay in the immediate area around his home and remain docile.

Alice may have been a little dehydrated when Watts found her because she drank a lot of water when he got her back in the house. But other than that, she was fine and happy to be back home, he said.

Watts said the snake got loose when a friend from out of town was handling the snake and didn't properly put her back in the cage.
