JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Friends and family gathered Thursday to say goodbye to a Jacksonville woman they say was taken too soon at the young age of 20.
Shelby Farah was killed Saturday at the Metro PCS where she worked during a robbery.
Police closed down a lane of traffic Thursday night as the crowds overflowed the sidewalk and into the street, in front of the Metro PCS store where Farah was killed.
It was a chance to say goodbye to 20-year-old Farah just days after the man charged with her murder was arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
"We just love her. She's so young, it was a senseless death that wasn't needed," said one of Shelby's friends.
"I would hug her and tell her I love her," said Shelby's mom, Darlene Farah. "We've always been very close."
It has been a trying week for Darlene, who spent hours waiting outside the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office for Shelby's killer to be found.
"I keep calling her phone keep hoping she will answer the phone. I can't even hear her voice again," said Darlene. "I don't have any voice mails, you can call her phone, it's not even her voice, but I hope she will answer her phone."
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in the case against her accused killer 21-year-old James Rhodes. Rhodes is expected in court again on Aug. 14.
