Armed robber breaks into Southside home

Person of interest detained


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An armed robber broke into a home on the Southside on Monday night and took several items, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police responded to the home on Dalry Drive in the Windy Hills subdivision around 7:35 p.m. The victim inside the home was not hurt and was able to give police a description of the robber and vehicle.

"A person of interest has been detained at this time," said Sgt. Keith O'Neal, of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. "Both the handgun and automobile used in the home invasion robbery have been recovered. Robbery detectives are continuing their investigation at this time. The subject we detained is being interviewed as we speak."

Police said some items from the home were taken.

No charges were filed early Tuesday morning, but police said they are pending.
