Spirit event ahead of football season

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Football season is right around the corner and it's the time of year fans start to show a little spirit. In preparation of the 2013 NFL football season, the Jacksonville City Council, downtown community and Jaxson de Ville are coming together to host the annual Painting the PawPrints event.

Bonnie Arnold, char of the PawPrints committee, says the event brings the community together to support the Jaguars. Arnold says it's important to stand behind the team because they're a significant contributor to the quality of life and community pride in Northeast Florida and the economic impact is more than $200 million annually.

The community is invited to go downtown and paint PawPrints on Bay Street on Saturday, August 10th from 8:00 to 11:00a.m. The painting starts on Bay Street from the base of the Main Street bridge to EverBank Field. Free parking is available in the Shipyards Lot #11 at the corner of Bay Street and A. Phillip Randolph.

Refreshments will be served at the beginning of the event. An after party will be held in the same location with several food trucks.
