JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An elderly man was died Friday night after he was hit by a vehicle on Lem Turner Road, according to police.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the man was trying to cross Lem Turner Road near Lila Street about 10:15 p.m. when he was hit by the vehicle.

The man died at the scene, authorities said.
Traffic homicide Detective Brian Blaquiere said the vehicle initially didn't stop, but then returned to the scene and talked with police.
Blaquiere said this is at least the fourth fatality he's seen in this stretch of Lem Turner between Interstate 95 and Edgewood Avenue, most involving pedestrians not using a crosswalk.
"When there's a designated crosswalk, regardless of the situation, you should use a crosswalk,"Blaquiere said. "The pedestrian is usually shown at fault."
