2 pedestrians struck, killed in Cocoa Beach

Police investigating double fatal accident

COCOA BEACH, Fla. – Police are investigating a crash that left two pedestrians dead Saturday night.

Police said they responded to a crash around 10:23 p.m. at the intersection of North Atlantic Avenue and Shepard Drive.

Police said the crash involved a pick-up truck and two pedestrians who were attempting to cross North Atlantic Avenue. 

Police said one of the pedestrians was transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. 

The other pedestrian was airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne where she succumbed to her injuries, police said.

The driver of the pickup truck, Robert Coffman, 33, of Cape Canaveral, was not injured, police said. 

Police said the names of the victims are not being released pending notification of next of kin. The crash is still under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
