ALMA, Ga. – Authorities say a south Georgia woman is dead after her pickup truck crashed near Alma.
The Florida Times-Union reported that 41-year-old Gidget Tanner of Nicholls was killed late Monday. The Georgia State Patrol says her Ford Ranger truck ran off the shoulder of the road as she was trying to negotiate a turn.
The State Patrol says the truck hit a fence post and a large tree, then overturned for about 88 feet before coming to rest.
Authorities say the woman remained inside the truck until it stopped flipping, but officials don't believe she was wearing a seat belt.
Tanner was taken to Bacon County Hospital in Alma, where she was pronounced dead.
