KINGSLAND, Ga. – A man was arrested on multiple counts Wednesday after a traffic stop that revealed he was en route to a possible attempted robbery.

Officer Wayne Smith of the Kingsland Police Department said he pulled over Adrian Landis, 24, after passing Landis as he drove a black 2003 Toyota pickup truck with a broken windshield, Landis apparently wearing blue, latex medical type gloves with half of his face covered in black paint.

As Smith followed the vehicle, he found that the truck was reported stolen after running the plates, police said.

After pulling Landis over, Smith found a note in the truck that contained instructions to a bank teller to provide cash, not call the police, to not give any dye packs and that there was a bomb, police said.

After Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay responded with an explosives detection canine, no bomb or bomb making components were found.

Police found several other license plates, marijuana in the vehicle and a GPS device whose last requested address was a Kingsland area bank location.

Landis was arrested and charged with theft by bringing stolen property into the state of Georgia, felony possession of marijuana and misdemeanor driving while license suspended/revoked.

Landis was transported to the Camden County jail in Woodbine.

"I attribute the successful conclusion of this case to the vigilance and observation skills shown by this officer in the performance of his duties, and a diligent investigation of the stop. I would also commend the Command and the service of the NSB K9 Officer and his four footed partner," said Kingsland Police Department Chief Darryl Griffis.

Kingsland police were checking with law enforcement agencies in Georgia and Florida that are investigating bank robberies to see if Landis may be a suspect. They have already ruled him out of Tuesday's bank holdup in St. Augustine.
