Coast Guard to assist Marines in exercise near Blount Island Thursday

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – The Coast Guard is scheduled to assist the Marine Corps Support Facility Blount Island command in an on-water security exercise Thursday.

The exercise is scheduled to last from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and will take place within the restricted area of the Marine Corps Support Facility on Blount Island.

The Coast Guard asks mariners to exercise caution in that area. Blank ammunition may be used by local, state and federal law enforcement vessels operating in the restricted area.

Watchstanders in the Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville command center will be monitoring VHF channel 16 and will be issuing a Marine Safety Information Broadcast every hour to advise mariners of the time and location of the exercise.
