Nemours, JSO to conduct armed gunman drill

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Nemours Children's Clinic is partnering with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office to host an emergency exercise Thursday simulating an armed gunman in the children's clinic building.

Residents in the community should not be alarmed. Patients visiting the clinic have been notified and the drill will not affect patient appointments.

The drill will last from 1-3 p.m. at the clinic at 807 Children's Way downtown.

The SWAT team and emergency response vehicles will be staged behind the clinic.

Officials said that due to the recent increase in events involving armed gunmen, Nemours and JSO are conducting the training exercise to be prepared for an event of this magnitude.
