JPMorgan Chase cutting jobs in Jacksonville

Company filed papers to cut 186 jobs

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Chase, the consumer branch of JPMorgan Chase, has filed papers with the state to cut 186 positions in the area.

The company is making cuts across the company, trimming a total of up to 15,000 positions.

"We are responding to our customers' changing needs," a JPMorgan Chase spokeswoman said in an email to the Financial News & Daily Record. "Fewer homeowners are struggling with their mortgages and many people have already refinanced, taking advantage of the stronger economy and historically low rates."

The spokeswoman said JPMorgan Chase is working with impacted employees to help them find jobs within the company or with other local companies.

JPMorgan Chase currently has about 3,800 employees in the Jacksonville area, but the company has announced plans to open more than a dozen bank branches in the area.
