1 dead, 1 injured in shooting at Arlington complex
JACKSONVILLE, Fla – Two people were shot Monday afternoon in a car at the Charter Landing Apartment complex in Arlington, and an 18-year-old woman was killed.
Investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Kamilah La'Star Urita was shot and killed inside of a white Pontiac. A man in the same car was shot. His identity was not released and there was no word on his condition.
Police say that the shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. Monday. They aren't sure if the shooter approached the car on foot or drove up to it.
"We have some people that we are talking to in the complex that heard or saw different things but nothing concrete right now," JSO Sgt. Michael Paul said.
"We still haven't gotten a really good look at the vehicle to determine if we have any bullet holes in the vehicle, there's nothing obvious at this point," Paul said.
Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call police at (904)-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
