JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 22-year-old man was convicted Tuesday afternoon of attempted murder in the second degree and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
In March, the victim was visiting a friend at the Eureka Gardens apartment complex when he encountered Maurice Javon Jackson.
As Jackson walked near the victim, authorities said he pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the arm. The victim has recovered from his injuries.
Jackson faces up to life in prison as a "10-20-Life" offender. The state attorney's office said he has a 2011 felony conviction for possession of a firearm by a juvenile delinquent found to have committed a felony.
Jackson will be sentenced the week of Oct. 14.
