JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Channel 4's first ever Women's Weekend is unfortunately over, but it was a success.
One of the main events on Saturday was the Positively Jax Locks of Love event. Hair stylists from Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy cut ponytails of 179 women, men, and children who were there to donate their hair to make wigs for children with medical hair loss.
Not even a minute after Women's Weekend started on Saturday, each of eight chairs were already full of women and a young girl getting lots of their hair cut off and it's all for a good cause.
"Nerve wracking."
That's how Rozann Barber felt right before cutting off more than 10 inches of her thick, long locks, but she said it was worth it.
After learning just this week her brother has cancer, Barber said the big cut had even more meaning.
"It will help a child or as you said, a young woman or older woman have a wig that they need so they don't feel so self-conscious about it," said Barber. "Make them feel great about themselves."

The Locks of Love booth featured stylists from Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy and there wasn't a second when they weren't busy cutting and styling.
Brittany Cline with Toni & Guy said her staff is honored to be a part of the event.
"Not only do we train our students to be highly trained technicians but they have an art form that can be good in the world, so this allows them to do that and share their gifts with other people," said Cline.
Judy Mitchell is another who donated her hair and she was thrilled about her new 'do for one particular reason.
"Exciting in a way because when I go to exercise class now, it won't get tangled in the ropes," said Mitchell.
Even 10-year-old Alysha Clark said she is happy to help out others, and is excited for a lighter hair style.
"It feels good because all that weight is off your head," said Clark.
The hair is expected to be shipped out Monday morning and within a week, it will begin the process of getting made into wigs for children with medical hair loss.
