Police arrest cigarette theft suspect

Police release surveillance images from inside the Hess store showing the person they are seeking.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police have arrested a man they said stole two cartons of cigarettes Sunday afternoon from the Hess station store at the corner of Philips Highway and Emerson Street.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, 36-year-old Aaron Hollister approached the clerk about 2:30 p.m. and asked for two cartons of Newport 100 Cigarettes. The cashier completed the $115 transaction and the suspect swiped a card through the card reader, police said.

When the transaction did not work, the suspect snatched the bag containing the cigarettes away from the cashier and fled the business, police said.

The cashier complained of pain to her fingers.

Hollister was arrested Monday and booked into jail.
