Man killed; police look for gunman

32-year-old man shot, killed Sunday evening on West 25th Street

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said witnesses at the scene of a shooting that happened Sunday in Northwest Jacksonville may be able to lead them to an arrest in the death of a 32-year-old man.

Sgt. Jay Farhat with JSO said someone gunned down Javan Reaves just before 5 p.m. on West 25th Street.

Witnesses say they heard gunshots and saw two people running away from the scene, but police don't know if those people are connected to the crime.

"They saw two people running after they heard the gunshots. It very well could have been people running after hearing gun shots or it could be our shooters, it's too early to tell right now," Farhat said.

Farhat said police believe an altercation of some sort led to the shooting, but they're not sure yet of a motive.
