Neighbor: Woman, 64, died in fire
Cause of fire on Cisco Drive unknown
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 64-year-old woman died in a fire in Northwest Jacksonville late Thursday night, according to her neighbor.
"I live next door and I heard my dogs went to barking. I looked out and the whole house was in flames," said Martin Faxeo.
The home is located on West Cisco Drive, which is not far from Pritchard Road.
Firefighters were dispatched to the home around 11:30 p.m.
Faxeo said he tried to save his neighbor, but the flames were too dangerous.
"I tried to go over there but I touched the door and window and it was too hot. The fire department told me once they got here, it was a good thing, it's a good thing I didn't do it," said Faxeo.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Officials have not released the woman's name, pending next-of-kin notification.
