Missing man reported on Northside

Homicide unit called to Northside apartment complex for investigation

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a missing persons case on the Northside.

JSO's homicide unit was called to the Mission Pointe Apartments located at 12450 Biscayne Blvd., just south of Interstate 295, to investigate.

Police said there may be foul play involved in the disappearance of a man, but would not release any information on the victim's name or any possible suspects.

A man was reported missing by family members at 2:50 a.m., according to police. They said he lived in an apartment at the complex.

So far, no other information has been given on the case.

"What they're doing is giving themselves a chance to sort things out," said Channel 4 crime and safety analyst Ken Jefferson. "Sometimes it's more complicated than the naked eye of the viewer or the media. It appears, 'OK, we have a missing person, why can't you give us all the information we need so we can help you?'"

"What police are saying right now without saying is, 'We need to work what we have now before we expose everything to the public,'" Jefferson said. "When you have the homicide unit respond to a missing person in this case, which is what the call went out as, generally there's the possibility of foul play or some type of abduction may have occurred."
