PALM COAST, Fla. – City officials in Palm Coast believe a tornado touched down three times in the Indian Trails area Saturday night.
At 7:02 p.m., reports came in about downed power lines and at least one roof ripped off a home on Bannerwood Lane at Bayside Drive. At 7:06 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for northern Flagler County. At 7:18 p.m., the National Weather Service issued an update saying the warning was cancelled.
A meteorologist with the NWS also reported that roofing material and other debris was lodged into the tops of trees. Other large pine trees had the tops ripped out of them. About 6,000 people were without power.
Emergency management teams went to inspect the damage in the B and C sections of Palm Coast and reported at least six homes in Indian Trails sustained severe damage. There were no reports of any injuries.
At 11 p.m. Saturday night, the FPL website showed more than 2,000 power outages remained in Flagler County.
The severe weather came through as the city of Palm Coast was holding their holiday parade.
"Around 6 p.m., we were about halfway through our holiday parade when we got the call from the fire department saying severe weather was on the way and to go ahead and cancel it, so we did," said Cindi Lane, city official of Palm Coast. "We made an announcement over the PA system that people should leave the parade and go to safe locations."
Sunday, NWS meteorologists will be in Palm Coast to determine if a tornado did touch down.
