Murder suspect surrenders; killing result of random robbery, police say

Police said killing was result of random street robbery

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man wanted in a killing on the Northside surrendered to police Saturday.

Officers were looking for 23-year-old Rayvon Sanders after 29-year-old Jonathan Youngblood was found shot to death in a car last Sunday near State and Grunthal streets.

Police said Sanders killed Youngblood in random street robbery.

They said Youngblood was in Northwest Jacksonville waiting for a friend when Sanders approached him looking to buy some marijuana. Police said he shot Youngblood, who drove off.

Sanders followed in his car, firing more shots, police said.

They said Youngblood crashed, and Sanders reached in an took Youngblood's watch.

Police said that was the only thing taken in the robbery.

Sanders was identified by witnesses and turned himself in, police said. They said he confessed to the killing.
