Driver killed, passenger hurt after car crosses into oncoming traffic

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – St. Augustine police are investigating a two-car crash on State Road 312 Saturday afternoon that left one person dead and another seriously injured.

Investigators say officers responded to a crash on the east side of the State Road 312 bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway at 5:07 p.m. Police say Alec-Julius Rizzi was driving west toward the bridge when he lost control of his vehicle and crossed the median, hitting an eastbound vehicle.

Rizzi died at the scene. His passenger, Brittney Williams, was hospitalized in critical condition. Kim Westfall, the driver of the second vehicle, was taken to Flagler Hospital, treated and released. Her son, a passenger in the vehicle, was not hurt.

Traffic homicide is continuing their investigation.
