Suspect in credit union robberies at large
Detectives say suspect may have pulled similar robberies
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Alive Credit Union on Atlantic Boulevard was robbed around 10:30 a.m. Monday, and authorities say the suspect is still at large.
The same man is also suspected of robbing Synovus Bank on Lane Avenue South on Sept. 16 and Fidelity Bank on Baymeadows Road on Nov. 13.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a man wearing a wig handed the teller a note Monday morning demanding the money, the same routine from the other robberies.
Detectives believe the man (pictured, below) may be the same man who is responsible for the robberies.
"Citizens in the community are very important because once they see this and they have some banking to do, be it at a bank or a credit union, they can look out for this person as well," said crime and safety specialist Ken Jefferson.
If you happen to be in a bank when a robbery happens, Jefferson suggests getting low, down on the ground as fast as possible.
He says don't try to be a hero, and comply with the robber's demands.
Jefferson says it's also important to be a good witness by getting a good look at the suspect so you can give a detailed description to police.
Officials said they believe the thief was unarmed.
