St. Johns County detectives said they began the investigation following complaints by neighbors of suspicious activity at the home and the possibility that meth was being manufactured.

Detectives said they gathered enough evidence supporting probable cause of that activity and obtained a search warrant for the home. They served the warrant just before 9 a.m.

Investigators seized a large amount of precursors and equipment used to manufacture methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The St. Johns County hazmat team was called in to decontaminate those who were exposed to the meth products.

John Whitaker, a 26-year-old Clay County man, was arrested when he drove to the home on a suspended license during the execution of the search warrant.
