Deputies search for credit card fraud suspect
2 others taken into custody
ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, along with multiple other agencies, were searching Wednesday for a suspect involved in the fraudulent use of a credit card.
The investigation began just before 10:30 a.m. when the personnel at a Dollar General in the Murabella area called deputies to report the incident.
Once on scene, deputies located and secured a female suspect identified as Shelita Shelton (pictured), according to the Sheriff's Office. Deputies said two male suspects fled on foot, and K-9 units responded. Deputies said one male was located and taken into custody.
Deputies said they were trying to identify him and working with out-of-state agencies, including the Secret Service, to determine the extent of the couple's activities.
One male suspect remains at large and is believed to be in the area of Interstate 95, north of County Road 214, deputies said. They said there is no information that the suspect is armed, but he is believed to have multiple out-of-state warrants. Deputies said that cannot be confirmed until he is taken into custody.
The suspect is described as a black man with a beard and was last seen wearing red pants or shorts and a purple shirt.
Residents in the area are asked to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious immediately.
